Listening to Your Body

Have you ever noticed how your body responds when you're stressed? Perhaps your shoulders become tight, your breathing becomes shallow, or you experience a sense of unease that you can't quite explain. Our physical and emotional experiences are closely connected. Sometimes, we recognise what we're feeling through our bodies before we're able to put it into words. Pain, tension and discomfort can affect how we feel emotionally, just as stress and emotional experiences can influence how we experience our bodies. Learning to recognise these connections can be an important part of looking after ourselves. This is where holistic therapies can offer another way to support our wellbeing. Rather than focusing solely on a particular symptom, they encourage us to consider the whole person: mind, body and emotions. At Grace & Ease, I offer two different ways to explore this connection: Craniosacral Therapy with Reiki and Chakradance.

Craniosacral Therapy: More Than Just Relaxation

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on therapy that works with the tissues and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Using light touch, the practitioner works with the body's natural rhythms and responses to encourage the release of tension and restrictions. While relaxation is often a welcome part of a CST session, Craniosacral Therapy is about more than simply relaxing. People seek CST for a variety of reasons, including physical tension and discomfort, neck and back pain, headaches and migraines, injuries, digestive difficulties, stress and other ongoing health concerns. Every person and every session is different. CST provides an opportunity to slow down, listen to your body and give it time and space to respond. At Grace & Ease, my approach also incorporates intuition. I doesn't diagnose or make assumptions about what your body needs. Instead, I work with what your body tells me, allowing each session to unfold naturally. Chakradance: Moving Through Emotions

Sometimes, talking about how we feel isn't easy. We may not even know exactly what we're feeling. This is where movement can offer another way to explore our emotions and reconnect with ourselves. Chakradance™ is a unique combination of meditation, specially composed music, free movement and mandala art. Each session focuses on one of the body's seven chakras, which are traditionally associated with different aspects of our emotional and personal lives. Unlike conventional dance classes, there are no steps to learn and no choreography to follow. There is no right or wrong way to move. With your eyes closed or your gaze lowered, you simply feel into the music and allow your body to move naturally. The experience begins with meditation, followed by free movement to music specifically composed for each chakra. Participants then create mandala art, providing an opportunity to reflect on their experience and gain further insight. Chakradance offers a way to explore feelings, reconnect with your body and express yourself through movement and creativity. The experience can continue to unfold long after you leave the workshop, as you reflect on your dance and mandala and the insights you may have gained. You don't need any previous dance or artistic experience. It's simply about giving yourself permission to move, explore and discover.

Craniosacral Therapy and Chakradance: Two Different Ways to Support Your Wellbeing

One of the wonderful things about holistic wellbeing is that there isn't just one way to look after ourselves. Some people enjoy the stillness of a hands-on therapy, while others prefer movement and creative expression. Some may find that a combination of different approaches suits them at different times in their lives. Craniosacral Therapy and Chakradance offer quite different experiences. With CST, you can lie back and receive gentle, hands-on therapeutic support. It provides an opportunity to focus on your physical wellbeing while taking time to rest and reconnect with your body. With Chakradance, you actively participate in your experience through movement, meditation, music and art. It offers an opportunity to explore your emotions and inner world through creative expression. Both encourage you to slow down, turn your attention inward and make time for yourself. Neither approach replaces appropriate medical care, but both may complement other ways you look after your wellbeing.

Making Time for Yourself

We often wait until we're exhausted or struggling before we make time for ourselves. But wellbeing isn't just about responding when things go wrong. It's also about making small, regular choices that help us feel connected, supported and balanced. That might mean taking a few quiet moments to breathe, spending time in nature, enjoying some gentle movement or booking a treatment that gives you space to relax and receive support. The important thing is finding what works for you. You don't have to know exactly what you need before you begin. Sometimes, simply taking that first step is enough.

Grace & Ease: Supporting Your Journey

I'm Liz Plant, the founder of Grace & Ease, a Craniosacral Therapy practitioner, Reiki practitioner and accredited Chakradance™ facilitator. My own healing journey inspired me to help others reconnect with themselves and discover the value of taking time for their wellbeing. Through Grace & Ease, I offer Craniosacral Therapy with Reiki and Chakradance workshops, providing two different ways to support your wellbeing. My Craniosacral Therapy sessions offer gentle, hands-on support with intuitive guidance for people experiencing physical discomfort, tension or other ongoing health concerns. Reiki is incorporated into each session, bringing an additional element of relaxation and energetic support. Chakradance offers a different experience. It's an opportunity to actively explore your inner world through movement, meditation, music and mandala art. Each workshop focuses on a particular chakra, allowing you to explore different aspects of yourself. Whether you're looking for a gentle hands-on treatment or an opportunity to explore your emotions through movement, my intention is to provide a welcoming, compassionate and safe space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I offer Craniosacral Therapy appointments and Chakradance workshops at various locations in Canterbury and Otago.  If you're curious about either therapy or would simply like to know more, you're very welcome to get in touch. Sometimes, the most important thing we can do for ourselves is pause, listen and allow ourselves the space to reconnect. Let healing ripple through you with Grace & Ease.
